The Main Range and Shooting Bays

Red Cliffs is an outdoor range. The main range has 24 shooting stations on a concrete floor under a shaded cover, with steel and paper targets out to 200 yards. Volunteer range safety officers are on hand, and the main range has accommodations for shooters with disabilities.

Beyond the main range are 15 individual shooting bays from 25 to 200 yards. Each bay has target frames, steel targets, a canopy, and tables and chairs. The bays are less closely supervised than the main range, so they allow things the main range doesn't, such as drawing from a holster or shooting two guns, as long as it's done safely. A dedicated shotgun bay takes all shotguns; on the main range, only shotguns firing slugs are allowed.

What to Bring and Range Rules

The range does not rent or sell firearms, so bring your own firearm and ammunition. The office sells some common calibers, plus targets and eye and ear protection. Bring a valid photo ID, and wear a shirt, long pants and closed-toe shoes, since hot brass flies. A few rules worth knowing before you go:

• Handguns and rimfire, centerfire and muzzleloading long guns up to .50 caliber are allowed. The .50 BMG and armor-piercing ammunition aren't.
• Silhouette targets aren't allowed on the main range.
• Minors must be with a parent or guardian and need a signed waiver. Children under 8 aren't allowed on the main range; rent a bay instead.
• Shooting stops 15 minutes before closing so everyone can collect brass and leave on time.
• As of September 2026, the range's website says Sig Sauer P320 handguns aren't allowed.

The range is first-come, first-served. Groups and corporate events can be booked by calling the range. The range posts closures, including weather closures and match days when the main range is closed, on its event calendar, so check it or call before you drive out.

Memberships, Matches and Classes

A membership costs $150 a year and lets you bring one guest free. Members who volunteer at the range at least twice a month get the next year's membership free. The club's calendar includes rimfire and centerfire benchrest matches, bowling pin matches, a CMP .22 pistol league, a free women's shooting morning on the last Sunday of the month, and periodic training and CPR and first aid classes. New shooters don't need a class to use the range, but the club recommends professional training.

Getting There from St. George

From I-15, take the exit for SR-9 toward Hurricane, then turn onto 5500 West, which becomes Regional Parks Road. Pass the DMV and the Washington County Fairgrounds, and follow the signs to the Southern Utah Shooting Sports Park. Red Cliffs is the next range on the right after the Cowboy Action Shooting area. From central St. George the drive is about 13 miles, roughly 20 to 25 minutes.
