Where is the Little Valley Pickleball Complex in St George, Utah?
The Little Valley Pickleball Complex is at 2330 Horseman Park Drive in St. George, Utah 84790, on the west side of a city park called The Fields at Little Valley, in the southeast part of town. The City of St. George runs it, and the city says its 33 outdoor courts make it Utah’s largest public pickleball facility.
The courts sit on Horseman Park Drive at the west end of the park, which also has six soccer fields, a softball field, covered pavilions, two playgrounds and a splash pad, so the rest of the family has plenty to do while you play. The city's pickleball program has grown here since 2012, when it started on four permanent courts at Vernon Worthen Park.
How many courts does Little Valley have?
The complex has 33 outdoor pickleball courts. It opened with 24 post-tensioned concrete courts, and a January 2024 expansion added eight more plus a championship court with permanent bleacher seating and room around it for televised matches. All of them are dedicated pickleball courts, not tennis courts with extra lines painted on.
The original courts were built with a MUSCO lighting system, a public address system, tournament boards, a central tournament command pavilion and shade structures. The championship court, unveiled on January 31, 2024, is ringed by palm trees. In 2020 the Professional Pickleball Registry named Little Valley its Public Facility of the Year, and the city says more than 6,000 players take part in tournaments here each year.
Does it cost anything to play at Little Valley?
Open play is free. When the courts are not booked for a city league, clinic or tournament, anyone can walk on and play at no charge. You only pay to reserve a court through the city’s online reservation system, to join a city league, or to sign up for a coached clinic or tournament run by St. George Recreation.
City programs reserve blocks of courts, so during a league night or clinic some courts are taken. The city asks players to check in with the attendant or instructor on duty to find out which courts are open during St. George Pickleball programs. For 2026, the six-week Fall League costs $48 for residents and $62.40 for non-residents ($38 and $49.40 during the three-day early-bird window).
Are the Little Valley pickleball courts lit at night?
Yes. The courts have a lighting system for night play, which is why the city schedules league matches that start at 7 p.m. The city does not publish set opening and closing hours for the pickleball courts on its website, so call St. George Parks and Recreation if you plan to play very early or late.
Can you reserve a court at Little Valley?
Yes, but most people simply show up. Individual courts can be booked through the city’s online reservation system at reservations.sgcityutah.gov by choosing Pickleball Court, and the fee is shown when you book. For a private tournament, call the city at (435) 627-4531. The city takes no reservations during St. George Marathon weekend.
Is Little Valley good for beginners?
Yes. The city runs a Beginner Adult Clinic at the complex for new players rated about 2.5 to 3.0, covering fundamentals, rules and scoring on courts 28 and 29. The October and November 2026 session meets Wednesdays from 9 to 10 a.m. and costs $60 for St. George residents or $78 for non-residents.
Players at 3.5 and above can take the Intermediate Adult Clinic on the same courts from 10 to 11 a.m. on those Wednesdays, at the same price. Coach Rob Jordan, who leads both, is PPR certified. The city also runs youth academies and a Wednesday evening junior league for ages 13 to 18. See the city's clinic page for registration.
Best times to play
Open play is easiest to find outside league blocks. In fall 2026 the city's leagues meet at Little Valley Monday through Wednesday, starting the week of October 19 and running through early December:
| Day | Morning | Evening |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | Mixer, 9 a.m. start | Team league, 7 p.m. start |
| Tuesday | Women’s and men’s, 9 a.m. start | Women’s and men’s, 7 p.m. start |
| Wednesday | 60+ women’s and men’s, 9 a.m. start | Mixer and juniors (13 to 18), 7 p.m. start |
- Thursday through Sunday have no fall league play on the city schedule, which makes them a better bet for drop-in games.
- Tournament dates: big events can take every court. The city's 2026 list includes the Fall Brawl (October 6 to 10) and the Utah State Round Robin (November 19 to 21). Check the tournament schedule before you go.
- Huntsman World Senior Games: Little Valley is a 2026 pickleball venue for the Games in October. Spectators watch free; see our Senior Games spectator guide.
- Summer heat: St. George summers are hot, so plan summer games for early morning or under the lights in the evening.
- Weather cancellations: the city posts cancelled clinics and leagues on its pickleball page.
Court rules and etiquette
The city doesn't post a full set of court rules online, but these are good habits at any busy public complex:
- Check in during programs: if a league or clinic is running, ask the attendant or instructor which courts are free, as the city asks.
- Respect reservations: a court booked through the city system or blocked for a program belongs to that group for its time slot.
- Rotate on busy days: when people are waiting, play one game and let the next group on.
- Wait for a rally to end before walking behind a court or fetching a stray ball from a neighboring court.
- Leave it clean: take your bottles and ball tubes with you.
What to bring
- A paddle and outdoor balls. The city doesn't say it lends equipment for open play, so bring your own.
- Court shoes with good lateral support for the concrete surface.
- A full water bottle, sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses.
- A light jacket for winter evenings, when desert temperatures drop fast after sunset.
- Your registration details if you're playing in a league or clinic, so you can check in.
