What is Washington County Legacy Park?
Washington County Legacy Park is the fairgrounds and events center run by Washington County at 5500 West 700 South in Hurricane, Utah. It has two climate-controlled event buildings, indoor, outdoor and covered arenas, a 356-stall horse barn and a three-quarter-mile racetrack. It hosts the county fair, rodeos, barrel races, expos and private rentals.
The park describes itself as a place for events large and small, artistic and athletic, and much of its calendar comes from Southern Utah's rodeo and horse community. Most visitors come for a specific event, so look up what is on before you drive out. SGWOM is an independent local guide and is not affiliated with the park or the county.
Who runs Washington County Legacy Park?
Washington County runs Legacy Park, and its mailing address is the county building at 197 East Tabernacle Street in St. George. The park’s contact page lists Susi Lafaele as County Fair Director and Events Manager and Kolbey Hughes as Legacy Park Equestrian Director. The park says its mission is to bring visitors and spending to Washington County.
Where is Washington County Legacy Park located?
Legacy Park is at 5500 West 700 South in Hurricane, Utah 84737, on the west side of Hurricane between Interstate 15 and the center of town. From I-15, take Exit 16 and head east on State Route 9 toward Hurricane, then follow the map below to the park entrance. Its mailing address is the county offices in St. George.
Open the location in Google Maps for turn-by-turn directions. Hurricane sits on State Route 9, the road to Zion National Park, so a rodeo or show here pairs well with a trip to Zion or a day at Sand Hollow.
What are the hours and admission?
Legacy Park does not publish general opening hours, because it is an events venue rather than a park you drop into. Gate times and admission are set by each event, so check the listing on the park’s event calendar or call 435-652-4000. The 2026 Washington County Fair, held April 10 to 18, had free admission and free parking.
Some events are free to watch and others sell tickets, and ticketed events are a separate rental category at the park. The organizer's own page or the park's calendar listing is the place to check times and prices. The calendar was last checked October 8, 2026.
What is there to do at the park?
Legacy Park is built for horses, livestock and big gatherings rather than playgrounds or trails. Visitors come to watch rodeos, barrel races and team roping in its three arenas, to shop expos and home and gun shows in the Grafton and Harmony buildings, to compete in clinics and tournaments, and to spend a few days at the county fair.
| Facility | Size | What it has |
|---|---|---|
| Grafton Building | 110 × 170 ft, about 18,700 sq ft | Up to 1,326 people; heated and air-conditioned, restrooms, patio, small kitchen, PA system. A divider makes an 8,000 sq ft room. |
| Harmony Building | 80 × 255 ft, about 18,000 sq ft | Up to 1,250 people; heated and air-conditioned, restrooms, patio, PA system, accordion door. Used for banquets, receptions and sports. |
| Ashton Indoor Arena | 120 × 200 ft | About 1,900 seats; heating and swamp coolers, concession stand, renovated restrooms, lawn with shade trees and a pavilion. |

The park lists the Grafton Building for banquets, expos, dog shows, meetings, company parties, concerts and conventions, and the Ashton Indoor Arena for dog shows, rodeos and barrel races. Full details are on the park's facilities page.

Parking, accessibility and tips
- Parking: the park has its own parking lot, which some events use as a venue too (Senior Games archery is held there in October 2026). The 2026 county fair had free parking.
- Restrooms and shade: the Grafton and Harmony buildings and the Ashton Indoor Arena have restrooms; the indoor arena also has a lawn with shade trees and a pavilion.
- Heat: the two event buildings are air-conditioned and the indoor arena has swamp coolers, but the outdoor arena's bleachers are open to the sun. Bring water and a hat for summer rodeos.
- Accessibility: the park does not publish accessibility details. Call 435-652-4000 before you go if you need accessible seating or parking.
- Weekends fill up: on busy weekends several events run at once, such as a gun show in the Grafton Building and a barrel race in the covered arena, so allow time to park and find your venue.
